2. Glen Helen Regional Park Lake & Marsh

Collection Dates:

Location:
San Bernardino County, Devore, Glen Helen Regional Park
Map Quad: Devore
Lat: 34 deg. 12 ‘ 17 “
Long: 117 deg. 24 ‘ 16 “
Township: 1 N
Range: 5 W
Section: NW corner of sec. 4
Elevation: 2000 ft.
Lake description:
Two developed fishing lakes, separated by a stream, open to the public
Fresh-water Marsh description:
An Eagle Scout Project constructed an extensive board-walk through the willow grove marsh which was in place during the first survey of the area in 1994. The board-walk slowly deteriorated and has been mostly dismantled. In 2006-2007, some grading of the extreme north and south ends occurred. The grading has halted and a marsh-like vegetation complex has again emerged. There is currently no trail through the marsh. Because of the grading, moist-zone loving plants that tolerate or require high sun exposure are now thriving in the north and south ends of the marsh.
