I stopped taking records at the end of March, 2009 temporarily. I’m spending the next six months concentrating on my project relating to the plants of the San Gabriel Mts.

Temperary Addition:
Until a seperate catagory is created for my website, I will begin listing unusual birds at the Puddingstone Diversion Dam in San Dimas Canyon. This is not the Puddingstone Dam at Bonelli Regional Park. This is approximately two miles east of the Glendora boundary. Observations by Dick Swinney unless otherwise stated.

Jan. - Mar. 2009 Water is still being allowed to flow through the Big Dalton Dam and the Big Dalton Debris Basin. There is no water being held at either facility. Work is still ongoing at the Big Dalton Dam.

Dec. - Big Dalton Debris Basin: The entire basin was graded and all vegetation uprooted. There is a slight flow of water through the center channel in the basin in addition to the natural seeps on the n. side.
As of 12/9/08 the sleuce valve has not yet be closed on the upper Big Dalton Dam, hence no water will accumulate until they do so.

11/21/07 Special Conditions: Both Big & Little Dalton Debris Basins have been cleared of vegetation. A small amount of water is running through the central portion of BDDB. LDDB is dry. Big Dalton Dam has been emptied for a replacement of a Sluice Valve and is being dredged. BDC closed to the public 11/23 -12/7/07 due to large truck traffic. Length of closure period unkown. Open during the weekends.
Park open most of January & February. Water is not being held behind the dam. All water is allowed to flow through into the BD Debris Basin below until work is completed on Sleuce Gate. Some water has been retained in the BD Debris Basin most of January & February.
BDDB during March: Marsh plants regrowing, water running through basin with small amounts being held.
